Virginia Democrats are asking america Supreme Courtroom to override a decision by the state’s highest court final week that struck down a voter-approved redistricting poll measure forward of the midterm elections.
In an emergency software filed Monday, Virginia Legal professional Basic Jay Jones wrote that the Virginia Supreme Courtroom was ” deeply mistaken” when it invalidated the poll measure, arguing the choice was predicated on a flawed understanding of “election day” and usurps the authority of state legislatures underneath the Structure to oversee federal elections.
“The irreparable hurt ensuing from the Supreme Courtroom of Virginia’s resolution is profound and quick.
