To the editor: Contributing author Veronique de Rugy’s critique of the Trump administration’s proposals is spot on (“The real RINOs aren’t who you think they are,” Jan. 22). However her compulsory try to color the Democrats as simply as harmful fails to persuade. In her telling, insurance policies coming from the far left, these not supported by mainstream liberals, are simply as harmful as insurance policies coming from the MAGA crew really answerable for the Republican Occasion and in a position to implement its imaginative and prescient.

Wingnuts are harmful, however mainstream wingnuts much more so. It’s time all of us get up to the fact that there’s nothing conservative about MAGA populism.
