    WELLINGTON: New Zealand’s high diplomat Winston Peters drew the ire of Beijing’s ambassador in Wellington on Thursday (Jul 30) after telling a lawmaker of Chinese language descent to “return to your personal nation”.

    Throughout a debate about New Zealand’s response to the Covid pandemic on Wednesday, populist NZ First chief Peters was requested by China-born Inexperienced Get together member Lawrence Xu-Nan: “Are you vaccinated?”

    In response, Peters mentioned the lawmaker, who was born within the Chinese language metropolis of Tianjin however grew up in Auckland, had “come right here 5 minutes in the past”.
