Mexico Metropolis: Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum urged the United Nations on Wednesday (Dec 17) to “stop any bloodshed” in Venezuela, as US President Donald Trump piled strain on the South American nation.

“The United Nations has been conspicuously absent. It should assume its position to stop any bloodshed and to all the time search the peaceable decision of conflicts,” the left-wing president informed a press convention the morning after Washington introduced a blockade of “sanctioned oil tankers” coming into or leaving Venezuela.

The USA has for months been constructing a serious navy deployment within the Caribbean with the said objective of combatting Latin American drug trafficking.

Caracas views the operation as a marketing campaign to push out leftist strongman Nicolas Maduro – whom Washington and many countries view as an illegitimate president – and to “steal” Venezuelan oil.

Sheinbaum stated that no matter “opinions” in regards to the management of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Mexico’s place is to reject “international interference.”

“We name for dialogue and peace for use in any worldwide dispute, and never intervention. That’s our place by conviction and by our Structure,” she added.
