To the editor: Whereas I 100% agree with visitor contributor Robert Repino about calling out the MAGA politicians, pundits, sycophants and opportunists, I take nice difficulty with portray everybody who voted for Donald Trump with the identical brush (“As Trump’s reign implodes, tell MAGA ‘I told you so,’” Oct. 7). The individuals we have to get via to are those who’re barely listening to politics, who’re voting with the final consensus of their group or on their instinctive feeling that Trump is chatting with them, or the impression that he’s a person of motion.

MAGA is wise. They don’t name me silly. They don’t indicate that I’m corrupt. They are saying that I’ve been misled by radicals, shady politicians and opportunists. We have to comply with their lead.

There are many horrible, disgraceful Trump supporters whom we should always assault with each rhetorical machine now we have. However we additionally want to acknowledge that tough financial circumstances, altering demographics, evolving social mores and the inevitable march of time have made a majority of our residents extraordinarily weak to a harmful authoritarian. Name me condescending, however we have to meet these individuals the place they reside and reassure them they haven’t been written off as ignorant, egocentric bigots, and that there’s a higher approach.
