To the editor: Sixty-seven thousand {dollars} annual tuition for a veterinary faculty (“America has a shortage of veterinarians, putting students in high demand,” Could 20)! Tuition at UC Davis medical faculty for the remedy of people is only about $47,000 for out-of-state college students, and even elite Harvard College med is about $73,000. Between such prices and company takeovers of veterinary clinics, no marvel veterinary care is unaffordable. Veterinarians advocate cleansing cat tooth yearly. Current quotes for my cat from three veterinarians ranged from $1,600 to $3,600. God forbid you might have two or three cats.
A number of lawsuits have alleged unfair and misleading practices by pet meals corporations to inflate costs, with at the very least one settlement within the hundreds of thousands of {dollars}. Few households can afford such prices, which results in animal abandonment and diminished care. The veterinary and pet care industries are in dire want of investigation to find out why prices are skyrocketing.
