To the editor: Thanks for the entertaining piece on Arturo Sandoval (“A night out with Cuban jazz maestro Arturo Sandoval,” June 12). My spouse and I had the pleasure of assembly Sandoval nearly precisely two years in the past, at a restaurant right here in Woodland Hills (Monty’s).

I approached him and instructed him how a lot I loved his music (I did, and do!). He was completely charming and gracious, kindly posing for a photograph with me.

Throughout this time, when a few of our fellow residents and public figures of notice have seemingly misplaced their bearings (or is it their wits?), it’s comforting that a few of the really gifted amongst us have retained their abilities and their graciousness.

    Ed Bialack, Woodland Hills
