    British police arrest Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on suspicion of misconduct

    LONDON — Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor — previously referred to as Prince Andrew and the youthful brother of King Charles III — was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public workplace.

    In an announcement, Thames Valley Police mentioned it had “arrested a person in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public workplace and are finishing up searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.”

    “The person stays in police custody at the moment. We won’t be naming the arrested man, as per nationwide steerage,” the assertion mentioned.

    In an announcement issued on Thursday, Charles mentioned, “I’ve realized with the deepest concern the information about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public workplace.”

    “What now follows is the complete, honest and correct course of by which this subject is investigated within the applicable method and by the suitable authorities. On this, as I’ve mentioned earlier than, they’ve our full and wholehearted help and co-operation,” Charles added.

    “Let me state clearly: the regulation should take its course. As this course of continues, it could not be proper for me to remark additional on this matter. In the meantime, my household and I’ll proceed in our responsibility and repair to you all.”

    The Prince and Princess of Wales issued an announcement supporting the king.

    Andrew’s arrest on Thursday follows the emergence of paperwork detailing communication between Andrew and the late convicted intercourse offender Jeffrey Epstein.

    Andrew has beforehand denied wrongdoing with respect to Epstein.

    If convicted, misconduct in public workplace carries a most sentence of life imprisonment.

    There have been no senior royals arrested in current historical past. In November 2002, Princess Anne pleaded responsible to having a canine dangerously uncontrolled and was fined £500. 

    The palace confirmed to ABC Information that it was not knowledgeable forward of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest.

    Thames Valley Police told ABC News final week that it was assessing reviews of Andrew’s alleged misconduct in workplace as commerce envoy.

    “We are able to affirm receipt of this report and are assessing the knowledge in step with our established procedures,” a Thames Valley Police spokesperson mentioned in an announcement on Feb. 9.
