    National Guard could stay in Washington, DC through summer 2026: Lawsuit

    Some 2,400 Guardsmen from the D.C. Guard and eight states are deputized as federal regulation enforcement. Governors from these eight states volunteered their Guardsmen for the mission and will select to rotate their servicemembers out. 

    One state official advised ABC Information that they had not acquired a request to increase their Guardsmen past the top of November. 

    A Joint Process Drive spokesperson additionally advised ABC Information the Guard’s orders go till Nov. 30 and there’s no plan right now for an extension. ABC Information has reached out to the Trump administration for a remark.

    The swimsuit filed by the District of Columbia alleges that the troops are at the moment “working as a federal army police pressure within the District.”
