To the editor: The headline of Mark Z. Barabak’s newest column is apt (“With a foot out the door, Nancy Pelosi tries one last flex,” Oct. 21).
The previous Home speaker is simply over two months away from leaving public life, and it strikes me, as somebody residing within the congressional district simply south of hers, that she’s attempting to go away her mark on the one political problem that she will be able to meaningfully have an effect on: her substitute.
It’s obvious that for no matter purpose, she holds a grudge in opposition to state Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), whom the San Francisco Chronicle described in its Sept. 26 endorsement as “arguably the nation’s most completed state legislator” — the nation, not simply California.
Wiener’s competitor, a San Francisco supervisor, has had few legislative accomplishments, not like Wiener, who stood out as a county supervisor for his laws in transit and housing earlier than heading to the state Senate in 2016. Actually, the Bay Space shall be voting subsequent Tuesday to take care of transit service on Caltrain, BART and Muni because of legislation he wrote final 12 months.
It boggles my thoughts why the previous Home speaker’s final act wouldn’t be in one of the best pursuits of her constituents, however one apparently stemming from private grievance.
