Marcus Stroman is seemingly the odd man out of the New York Yankees rotation. That isn’t one thing he’s prepared to just accept.
Stroman ended his two-day absence by reporting to spring coaching on Friday. In doing so, he could have changed one headache for one more for the Yankees. Bryan Hoch from MLB.com reported that Stroman acknowledged, “I am a starter. I will not pitch within the bullpen. I am a starter.”
Stroman made sure that he obtained his level throughout when chatting with reporters. Greg Joyce of the New York Post reported that Stroman stated he was a starter 11 instances in his 10 minutes with the media.
Whereas Stroman has sometimes been used as a starter prior to now, he doesn’t seem to have a spot within the Yankees rotation. Gerrit Cole and newcomer Max Fried are set as the highest two starters for the Yankees. Carlos Rodon is a stable middle-of-the-rotation arm. Kids Luis Gil and Clarke Schmidt confirmed promise in 2024, with Gil being named the 2024 AL Rookie of the Year.
Stroman, in the meantime, struggled in his first 12 months in pinstripes, cooling off after a robust begin to the season. He posted a 4.31 ERA and a 1.468 WHiP in his 154.2 innings, placing out 113 batters with 60 walks.
