    DUBAI: The US army launched a sequence of strikes towards Iran early Wednesday (Jul 7), hours after three merchant ships were struck within the waters off Oman within the Strait of Hormuz.

    The renewed assaults from either side threaten the interim deal reached final month, with the US and Iran each saying the strikes violate that preliminary settlement.
