    US asked Ukraine for support in drone protection in Middle East: Zelenskyy

    KYIV: The US requested Ukraine for assist to fend off Iranian drone attacks in the Middle East, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned Thursday (Mar 5), including that he had ordered knowledgeable help to be given.

    Throughout Russia’s four-year invasion, Kyiv has developed a spread of low cost and efficient drone interceptors – aerial craft designed to hit incoming assault drones mid-air – that it says are world-leading.

    Zelenskyy on Tuesday provided US allies within the Center East a swap of a few of their air defence missiles in trade for these interceptors, which he mentioned would higher defend them from Iranian drone assaults.

    “We obtained a request from the USA for particular help in safety towards ‘shaheds’ within the Center East area,” Zelenskyy confirmed on X on Thursday, referring to the Iranian-designed drones additionally utilized by Russia.

    Ukraine has been going through a near-daily pummelling with such drones, launched from Russia and targeting residential areas and civilian infrastructure, together with its power websites.

    “I gave directions to supply the required means and make sure the presence of Ukrainian specialists who can assure the required safety,” he added.
