    Trump vows intense strikes as Iran war heads into third week

    WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump mentioned in an interview aired Friday (Mar 13) that American forces would strike Iranian targets “very onerous” within the coming days, signalling an intensification of the US-Israeli marketing campaign because the conflict within the Center East approaches its third week.

    Washington and its ally launched the offensive on Feb 28 with strikes that killed Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, triggering a widening regional conflict that has rattled global energy markets and drawn missile and drone assaults throughout the Gulf.

    “We will be hitting them very onerous over the subsequent week,” Trump advised Fox Information Radio, including that he believed Iran’s management may finally be toppled by its personal individuals.

    “I actually assume that is an enormous hurdle to climb for individuals that do not have weapons,” Trump mentioned. “I feel it is a very large hurdle … It will occur, but it surely most likely shall be, possibly not instantly.”

    Trump’s remarks got here as US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth mentioned Washington and Israel had already struck greater than 15,000 targets since launching an air marketing campaign in opposition to Iran on Feb 28.

    “Between our air power and that of the Israelis, over 15,000 enemy targets have been struck. That is nicely over 1,000 a day,” Hegseth advised reporters, including that Friday would see the best quantity of strikes thus far.

    Hegseth mentioned the marketing campaign had sharply degraded Iran’s means to retaliate.

    Iran’s “missiles, their missile launchers and drones (are) being destroyed or shot out of the sky,” he mentioned, including that the quantity of missile assaults had fallen by 90 per cent and drone strikes by 95 per cent.
