    WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump threatened nations Monday (Feb 23) with punishing hikes on import duties in the event that they select to “play video games” after the US Supreme Court struck down his global tariffs final week.

    “Any Nation that desires to ‘play video games’ with the ridiculous supreme courtroom resolution, particularly people who have ‘Ripped Off’ the USA for years, and even many years, will probably be met with a a lot larger Tariff, and worse, than that which they only not too long ago agreed to,” Trump wrote on social media.

    The excessive courtroom’s resolution has dealt a pointy blow to Trump’s financial agenda, of which tariffs – and his capacity to impose them quickly – have been a key function.

    For now, US Commerce Consultant Jamieson Greer has stated that he expects companions to “stand by” the tariff offers they’ve struck with Washington.

    After Supreme Court docket dominated towards Trump’s country-specific tariffs final week, saying he exceeded his authority in tapping emergency financial powers to impose them, the US chief turned to a separate legislation to announce new 15-per cent duties on imports.

    He additionally claimed that the courtroom gave him “much more powers and energy” with its ruling, and that he may use “licenses to do completely ‘horrible’ issues to overseas nations.”
