    Trump lashes out at ‘paper tiger’ NATO while re-upping Greenland claim

    WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump lashed out on Monday (Apr 6) at NATO allies who did not support the United States within the struggle in Iran and reiterated his need to annex Greenland.

    Trump’s remarks got here forward of a go to by the defence alliance’s chief Mark Rutte scheduled for later this week.

    “Look, we went to NATO,” Trump recalled. “I did not ask very strongly, I simply stated, ‘Hey, if you wish to assist, nice.'”

    “‘No, no, no, we won’t assist,'” Trump stated he was advised, whereas not saying who he spoke to.

    Trump went on to say that NATO members had “truly gone out of their method to not assist”.

    The alliance, Trump stated, “is a paper tiger” that Russian President Vladimir “Putin’s not afraid of”.

    NATO Secretary Common Mark Rutte, who Trump referred to as “an amazing particular person”, is predicted in Washington this week. 

    On Wednesday, he’ll maintain talks with Trump, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Protection Secretary Pete Hegseth, the Alliance stated on Friday.

    The remarks mark the most recent dust-up between Trump and the alliance.

    Trump has made no secret of his need to annex Greenland – managed by NATO ally Denmark – which has been strongly resisted by the alliance.

    Discussing his displeasure with NATO, Trump stated: “All of it started with – if you wish to know the reality – Greenland.”

    “We would like Greenland,” Trump stated. “They do not need to give it to us. And I stated, ‘bye, bye’.”

    Trump additionally criticised different conventional non-NATO allies together with South Korea, Australia, and Japan for not aiding with the Iran struggle.

    Trump praised Gulf international locations together with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates for his or her assist in the course of the battle.
