WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Sunday (Dec 28) congratulated the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia on a ceasefire agreed the previous day after weeks of border clashes which have killed dozens.

“I wish to congratulate each nice leaders on their brilliance in coming to this speedy and particularly reasonable conclusion,” mentioned Trump, who has claimed credit score for a earlier truce that was damaged earlier this month when the border battle reignited.

In a publish on his Fact Social platform, Trump known as the eventual consequence “FAST & DECISIVE, as all of those conditions needs to be!”.

He added that Washington, which has been concerned in mediation efforts together with China and Malaysia, was “proud to assist”.

Ahead of talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a while Sunday, Trump lauded his self-proclaimed position in ending world conflicts, saying “maybe the USA has turn out to be the REAL United Nations”.

“The United Nations should begin getting lively and concerned in WORLD PEACE!”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio welcomed the Thailand-Cambodia ceasefire on Saturday, calling on either side to “instantly honour this dedication”.
