    SINGAPORE: Singapore-bound passengers have been amongst 1000’s of travellers stranded at Hamad Worldwide Airport in Doha on Tuesday (Jun 24) after the non permanent closure of a number of nations’ airspace.

    Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait briefly shut their airspace late on Monday after Iran’s strike on a US military base in Qatar’s capital Doha, forcing airways to cancel or reroute hundreds of flights and making a backlog of stranded passengers.

    4 passengers travelling to Singapore informed CNA that there was no clear indication once they would be capable of get one other flight. They mentioned that they had not been supplied with any lodging preparations. 

    Ms Melodie Yip, who had been transiting on the airport, was meant to fly out of Doha on Monday night time on Qatar Airways, however her flight was cancelled. 

    After queuing for round eight hours to rebook one other flight that was meant to depart this afternoon, she later learnt that this flight had been cancelled as effectively. 

    She is ready for one more flight to go away the nation, however mentioned she doesn’t count on to get a flight on Tuesday night time.

    “Once I heard the second flight was cancelled, I used to be very, very anxious as a result of I did not need to undergo that … eight-hour queue once more,” she mentioned. 

    Nevertheless, she mentioned that she had discovered some consolation within the different Singaporeans who have been within the queue together with her. 

    Ms Yip mentioned she anticipated to get a flight on Wednesday and hoped it will not be cancelled once more.

    “If it is tomorrow, I am hoping that they can even give us some like lodge keep, or a minimum of some type of lodging,” she mentioned. 

    “I feel Hamad Worldwide Airport and Qatar Airways weren’t ready for such a disaster, which is sudden for a world-class, award-winning airline and airport,” she added.
