To the editor: U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts is quoted as saying, “Eliminating racial discrimination means eliminating all of it.” This misses the purpose of DEI, which isn’t to get rid of racial discrimination, however to compensate for the actual fact it exists (“California defies Trump order to certify that all school districts have eliminated DEI,” April 11). Employers and others have racial biases that affect hiring and different selections. Except we counter these biases with initiatives like DEI, the perfect candidates gained’t essentially be chosen for colleges, jobs, and so forth.

    Gary Thorne, Yorba Linda

    ..

To the editor: Good for California. If the state yielded, the Trump administration would merely make extra threats, extra calls for and provide extra causes to chop off funds, which it might do anyway. Finest to say no proper now.

    David Moskowitz, Playa del Rey

    ..

To the editor: If the Trump administration believes that DEI is prohibited, why not name for the elimination of all public colleges (“California defies Trump order to certify that all school districts have eliminated DEI,” April 11)? DEI is embedded within the public colleges. They’ve to simply accept all kids and supply lodging to make sure no youngster is discriminated towards.

Do we actually wish to exchange public colleges with homeschooling and personal colleges? Will there be uniform requirements? Who will supervise and regulate them? How will they be funded? I would favor that Trump give attention to significant reforms for public colleges that handle twenty first century challenges.
