A 15-year-old boy survived atop a fishing vessel after it capsized in frigid waters off the coast of Alaska, whereas his two crew members died, in keeping with the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard pilot who noticed the lone survivor sitting atop the overturned boat within the Bering Sea known as the rescue an “emotional curler coaster” in an interview with ABC Information on Thursday.

The 18-foot fishing vessel had departed Savoonga on St. Lawrence Island on Friday and was due again early Sunday, in keeping with the Coast Guard. It was reported overdue Sunday evening, prompting the search and rescue effort.

Video of the rescue confirmed the teenager kneeling on the overturned skiff as he is reeled in with a heaving line after which introduced aboard the Northwest Explorer fishing vessel.
The 15-year-old survivor had signs of hypothermia, the Coast Guard mentioned. The 2 deceased boaters have been recovered from the water and transported together with the survivor to Nome.
The Coast Guard has not launched the names of the deceased boaters or the survivor.
