Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego is beneath federal investigation for suspected marketing campaign finance violations, an individual aware of the matter confirmed to ABC Information.
Based on a number of studies, Gallego, a Democrat, used marketing campaign funds to fly his household to the Caribbean, Miami, Nantucket and Puerto Rico. He additionally allegedly used funds to pay for childcare.
Marketing campaign funds could also be used to pay for a candidate’s childcare bills which can be incurred as a direct results of marketing campaign actions, in keeping with the Federal Election Fee.
On Monday, the Senate Ethics Committee closed its inquiry into allegations of sexual misconduct and marketing campaign finance violations after discovering no proof that Gallego violated Senate guidelines or relevant legislation, in keeping with a letter launched by his workplace.
Regarding the federal investigation, a Gallego spokesperson advised Axios that “it is the least shocking information of the week that this comes instantly after the Senate Ethics Committee cleared Senator Gallego of right-wing smears pushed by the administration.”
