With LIV Golf‘s future in limbo, Rory McIlroy is beginning to take victory laps across the rival league’s eventual grave. Evidently, the Northern Irishman’s current feedback did not sit properly along with his previous good friend and five-time Ryder Cup teammate.
When requested this week in regards to the worth LIV golfers would carry again to the PGA Tour, McIlroy said, “I would argue, have they introduced worth to LIV? You already know? I feel the PGA Tour is in a very great place.”
Lee Westwood, who competed alongside McIlroy on Workforce Europe for over a decade earlier than defecting to LIV Golf in 2022, took umbrage at that comment.
“I actually do not care what folks assume, to be completely sincere,” Westwood instructed TNT throughout its protection of LIV Golf Indianapolis, per Yahoo Sports. “I heard Rory’s feedback yesterday. I assumed Scottie [Scheffler] answered the query properly, and Rory’s reply was simply typical of him. It wasn’t properly thought out. There are a number of gamers on this tour who carry worth to tournaments.”
McIlroy and Westwood was once good mates, however that does not seem like the case anymore.
