To the editor: Visitor contributor Patti Davis will be rightfully happy with how her father carried himself in his public life (“My father, Ronald Reagan, would be heartbroken by today’s White House conduct,” June 7). There are issues he did as a dedicated conservative that damage the veracity of our international insurance policies, and that adversely affected the economic system, the social security web and the incomes energy of Individuals. However, as Davis paperwork, he held, and acted with, an honest respect for others.

I’m struck by the hypocrisy of our present president, who each appears to experience his personal picture and who additionally prominently shows a portrait of the fortieth president in picture shoots on the White Home. President Trump has by no means actually proven respect to Reagan.

Davis’ remarks on Trump’s cruelty mirror Joseph Welch’s plea to Joseph McCarthy, who questioned the loyalty of a younger legal professional in Welch’s regulation agency: “Have you ever no sense of decency, sir? In the end, have you ever left no sense of decency?”

I strongly hope, with Davis, that America’s dignity will be reclaimed after the Trump period is gone.

To the editor: I beloved Davis’ op-ed for highlighting her father’s empathy, compassion and respect towards others, even these with differing viewpoints. It’s unhappy to see the dearth of respect and humanity from our present president, so it’s vital to be reminded of those values — presently misplaced, however not forgotten.
