To the editor: The lack of Will Rogers’ ranch home and homestead within the Palisades hearth is deeply saddening (“At historic home of Will Rogers, a painful question after fire: What comes next?” Might 4). Rogers was an ideal American humorist and humanist whose folksy model could be welcome at the moment. His Despair-era quip — “There’s as a lot cash at the moment as there ever was. Solely fewer individuals have it” — is as related at the moment because it was when he mentioned it. I hope that his reminiscence can proceed to be honored on the property.
The eucalyptus timber that he had planted, sadly, might have been partly accountable for the lack of the ranch, since they’re a really flamable species. Despite the fact that they’re traditionally important, it appears logical to interchange them with a local tree resembling coast reside oak, which is hearth resistant and supplies nice habitat for the native wildlife.

To the editor: I’m sorry to study Rogers’ ranch home burned down. He is a vital a part of Americana, and workers author Hailey Branson-Potts did a high quality job of summarizing this wonderful man’s legacy. A favourite quip of Rogers’ sticks with me: “I’m not a member of any organized political get together. I’m a Democrat.”
