To the editor: As an American-born daughter of Filipino immigrant mother and father, I proudly cherish each cultural legacies. I’ve compassion for Asian American and Pacific Islander adults who really feel threatened by insurance policies and practices of this administration (“How AAPI adults are being affected by Trump’s immigration crackdown, according to a new poll,” June 15). Clearly, the president favors whiteness of residents and immigrants over individuals of coloration.
To have fun 250 years of America means affirming the worth of everybody, no matter pores and skin coloration and nationwide origin. It’s tough to disregard President Trump’s racism manifesting in perspective and language. Present “restrictions on immigration and variety, fairness and inclusion initiatives” are un-American.
To have fun justice and liberty for all is inclusive. Sadly, that’s not Trump’s understanding of belonging right here, of freedom, of justice.
