    NEW YORK — Police had been looking out Tuesday for 2 suspects believed to have been concerned in an assault close to Manhattan’s Penn Station when a 37-year-old man was set on fireplace as he slept.

    New York Metropolis Police mentioned three males approached the sleeping man round 8:40 p.m. on Monday and lit his clothes on fireplace earlier than fleeing into the Amtrak practice station.

    Emergency personnel extinguished the flames and introduced the person to the hospital in steady situation, police mentioned.

    Amtrak confirmed that its police are working with NYPD to research the incident, offering no additional particulars. Numerous media retailers reported {that a} third suspect has been arrested.

    The assault is the newest in a string of incidents of people being lit ablaze on public transit throughout the nation. In December, a New York City high school senior was arrested on a federal arson cost after authorities mentioned he set a hearth that severely burned a sleeping subway passenger.

    A sleeping lady on a stopped New York subway automotive died in 2024 after a person lit her on fireplace after which fanned the flames with a shirt.
