To the editor: As members of the Dayton household, we’re shocked and dismayed by Goal’s rollback of its Racial Equity Action and Change and Supplier Diversity programs.

When our father and his 4 brothers reworked a household division retailer into the nationwide retailer it’s as we speak, their work was primarily based on a transparent set of rules. They had been excellence, a “buyer is all the time proper” mantra and a dedication to the well-being of their neighborhood.

Not solely did they consider these to be excessive moral requirements, additionally they acknowledged them as sturdy enterprise practices. The higher the service, the happier the shopper and the stronger the neighborhood, the higher the enterprise.

We’re alarmed how rapidly the enterprise neighborhood has given in to the present administration’s retaliatory threats. It isn’t “unlawful” for an organization to create a enterprise mannequin primarily based on what it believes to be necessary moral and enterprise requirements.

By cowering, Goal and others are undermining the very rules which have made their firms successful.
