    HONG KONG: Oil costs surged in early Asian commerce on Monday (Jul 20) after the US struck Iran for a ninth consecutive night and a vessel caught fireplace within the Strait of Hormuz.

    The good points mirrored rising fears that renewed combating within the Center East may disrupt oil shipments by way of the strait, a key hall for international power.

    Brent crude for September supply rose 2.72 per cent to US$90.50 a barrel by round 1am GMT (9am, Singapore time). It had briefly crossed US$91, its highest value since June.

    US benchmark West Texas Intermediate gained 2.39 per cent to US$84.46.

    Britain’s maritime safety company UKMTO mentioned a ship was on fireplace within the strait on Monday, in waters round 15km northwest of Oman.

    It didn’t specify the reason for the blaze.

    US President Donald Trump informed reporters on Sunday night that the US was hitting Iran “very laborious” in retaliation for the latest deaths of American troops within the Center East.

    Individually, Kuwait’s army mentioned on Monday it was responding to an Iranian drone assault concentrating on its territory.
