The Philadelphia Eagles are extensively anticipated to commerce A.J. Brown sooner or later earlier than the beginning of the 2026 regular season, and a brand new report makes it appear much more probably that the star extensive receiver will wind up within the AFC.

Brown has been linked to the New England Patriots for some time. The defending AFC champions want to give quarterback Drake Maye a real No. 1 menace within the passing sport after transferring on from Stefon Diggs, and Brown is alleged to be their prime goal. With minicamp rapidly approaching, the percentages proceed to favor Brown touchdown in New England.

A.J. Brown will probably be dealt within the close to future

Buying and selling Brown would go away the Eagles with a useless wage cap hit of round $43.5M. In the event that they have been to attend till June 2 or later to deal Brown, that may give them the choice of spreading that cash out over two seasons. That’s, in all chance, the rationale no official commerce involving Brown has been introduced.

On Sunday, Mike Florio of Professional Soccer Speak wrote that “all indicators are nonetheless pointing to Brown changing into a Patriot as quickly as June 2.” The longtime reporter believes the Eagles and Patriots have a handshake settlement in place and views it as unlikely that Philadelphia will return on the deal.

“It’s solely doable that the deal is unofficially finished. Commerce phrases agreed to, and each groups maintaining their mouths shut till Brown passes a bodily and each groups talk the phrases of the transaction to the league workplace,” Florio wrote.

“The Maxx Crosby fiasco from March was a lesson to all groups about not letting the cart get in entrance of the horse. Say nothing till the deal is official.

“May one other group swoop in with a greater supply? If the Patriots and Eagles have unofficially labored out a deal, and if either side honor a transaction that continues to be unofficial till it turns into official, it’s too late for that.”

Patriots stay the favourite for A.J. Brown

The Patriots have been the favourite to land Brown for a number of weeks at most main sportsbooks. Whereas one NFL insider not too long ago stated it’s not a sure thing that New England and Philadelphia will come to an settlement, most followers and members of the media alike can be shocked if Brown have been to land with one other group.

Brown caught 78 passes for 1,003 yards and 7 touchdowns for the Eagles final season. His function has diminished a bit because the group signed Saquon Barkley two years in the past, which has led to some frustration for the three-time Professional Bowl choice. It looks like Brown desires a change of surroundings, and a reunion together with his former coach in Mike Vrabel nonetheless makes extra sense than some other final result.
