Advances in sensing, manufacturing, computational sources, and data-driven strategies are enabling new approaches to electromagnetic sensing, non-destructive analysis, and superior supplies processing. This webinar will display how the COMSOL Multiphysics software program helps predictive modeling by coupling electromagnetic fields with thermal, chemical, mechanical, and transport phenomena throughout a number of size and time scales.

The primary utility we’ll present focuses on eddy-current thermometry for reconstructing three-dimensional temperature fields in metallic plates. Temperature-dependent electrical conductivity alters induced currents and magnetic fields, enabling volumetric thermal inference. COMSOL simulations of defects and laser-induced transient heating will assist validation of reconstruction algorithms. Multifrequency excitation will likely be investigated to enhance depth discrimination via frequency-dependent penetration depths and sensitivities.

The second utility examines microwave-enabled volumetric additive manufacturing of ceramic elements. A high-power microwave beamforming array delivers localized vitality into three-dimensional volumes, enabling processing of opaque, particle-laden resins. Coupled COMSOL fashions of electromagnetic propagation, microwave absorption, warmth switch, and ceramic sintering kinetics are used to foretell temperature evolution, response development, spatial decision, and processing scalability. Future extensions will incorporate pulsed excitation, fluid movement, resin viscosity, convection, shrinkage, and strong mechanics.

Collectively, these examples display how the COMSOL software program can combine multiphysics modeling with sensing, manufacturing, and information inversion. This webinar will current two purposes of coupled electromagnetic and thermal modeling in COMSOL Multiphysics: eddy-current thermometry in metallic plates and microwave-assisted processing of ceramic-loaded resins. By connecting simulation with sensible engineering programs, COMSOL-based modeling can speed up know-how growth, cut back experimental iteration, and assist dependable scale-up of next-generation electromagnetic applied sciences.
