    SYDNEY: Australians youthful than 16 will likely be faraway from Fb and Instagram on Dec 4, tech big Meta mentioned Thursday (Nov 20), as Canberra prepares to implement sweeping legal guidelines banning teenagers from social media.

    From Dec 10, Australia will power social media platforms, together with Fb, Instagram and TikTok, to take away customers beneath the age of 16 or face hefty fines.

    Meta mentioned that it will begin eradicating youngsters from its platforms forward of the ban coming into power.

    “From right now, Meta will likely be notifying Australian customers it understands to be aged 13-15 that they may lose entry to Instagram, Threads and Fb,” Meta mentioned in a press release.

    “Meta will start blocking new under-16 accounts and revoking current entry from Dec 4, anticipating to take away all identified under-16s by Dec 10.”

    There are round 350,000 Instagram customers aged between 13 to fifteen in Australia and round 150,000 Fb accounts, in response to authorities figures.
