    Retired Gen. Mark Milley’s official portrait as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Employees was taken down Monday afternoon from the Pentagon hallway the place all the work of the earlier chairmen are positioned.

    In unscripted remarks in Emancipation Corridor following his inaugural handle on Monday, Trump questioned why Biden pardoned Milley, in addition to former Rep. Liz Cheney and Dr. Anthony Fauci.

    “Why are we doing this? Why are we attempting to assist a man like Milley?” he stated. “Why are we doing Milley? He was pardoned. What he stated — horrible, what he stated.”

    Biden expressed considerations about political retribution in his protection of the slate of preemptive pardons.

    “That’s the reason I’m exercising my authority below the Structure to pardon Basic Mark A. Milley, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the Members of Congress and workers who served on the Choose Committee, and the U.S. Capitol and D.C. Metropolitan law enforcement officials who testified earlier than the Choose Committee,” he added. “The issuance of those pardons shouldn’t be mistaken as an acknowledgment that any particular person engaged in any wrongdoing, nor ought to acceptance be misconstrued as an act of contrition for any offense. Our nation owes these public servants a debt of gratitude for his or her tireless dedication to our nation.”
