    Maradona bloated, bedridden and resigned before death, says icon’s masseur

    SAN ISIDRO, Argentina: Diego Maradona was bedridden, affected by edema, and appeared resigned to his destiny in his last days, in response to the testimony of the Argentine soccer legend’s masseur on the trial into the circumstances of his death in 2020.

    Maradona “would not get off the bed, he did not wish to eat, he did not wish to wash, he did not wish to take care of his private hygiene”, Nicolas Taffarel testified on Thursday (Aug 6). 

    He claimed that on the time he had alerted the 1986 World Cup winner’s medical crew that they need to be extra current and go to “on daily basis”, as heard in an audio message performed in court docket.

    Seven healthcare professionals have been on trial since mid-April in Argentina for potential negligence that will have contributed to the soccer icon’s dying.

    “I reported the problems I noticed with him, however I noticed no concrete motion or swift decision,” added the masseur, on the verge of tears as he spoke of Maradona.

    “He was bloated, his legs had been swollen …,” Taffarel recounted.

    “The medical doctors advised me to relax, that these signs would cross. Whenever you’re anxious, you place your belief in them; you inform your self it’s going to cross, that the whole lot will type itself out. But it surely did not cross.”
