To the editor: As we study of lots of of younger males hauled off in shackles — with zero due course of — to a brutal El Salvadorian jail, it’s clear that cruelty isn’t a byproduct, however relatively the purpose for this administration (“They were called gang members and deported. Families say their only crime was having tattoos,” March 23). We now have proof some weren’t affiliated with gangs. Not a touch of remorse for these whose solely offense was escaping tyranny and torture in Venezuela and who now discover themselves in a dwelling hell.
Immigration falls beneath the umbrella of the Division of Homeland Safety headed by Kristi Noem. She seems to have auditioned for the function with the discharge of her ebook final 12 months containing a tough-gal brag about capturing her canine and goat. Their offenses? Annoying her. In any regular world, this admission would have been a nonstarter for a place of energy. Not in Trump’s America. To the editor: The Alien Enemies Act, which is Trump’s excuse for deporting folks to El Salvador, solely applies in wartime. The facility to declare warfare, like the facility of the purse, is expressly beneath the authority of the legislative department. We’re not at warfare simply because Trump says we’re.

To the editor: President Trump can’t be allowed to spherical up any group of individuals in our nation and carry out all the “due course of” inside the government department. He can not go on to pay El Salvador to use jail time whereas avoiding an American court docket of regulation, presumably as a result of it’s extra handy. That’s unconstitutional.
