To the editor: It’s exhausting to simply accept the audacity of Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco now in search of reimbursement for authorized bills in connection to his February seizure of 650,000 Proposition 50 particular election ballots from 2025, reportedly to establish voting irregularities (“Sheriff Chad Bianco asks Riverside County to foot legal bills over ballot seizure,” Oct. 24).

Nobody requested or directed Bianco to grab the ballots, and there apparently was no subsequent public report of Bianco’s evaluate of them. Whereas the seizure was accepted by a Bianco-friendly decide, the California legal professional normal, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and the state Supreme Courtroom all discovered the poll seizure to be unwarranted and out of doors the scope of the sheriff’s duty.

It’s no coincidence that on the time, Bianco was a candidate for governor. The poll seizure must be seen as a political stunt to achieve consideration for his candidacy.

He got here in fourth within the June 2026 major election. In view of the entire foregoing, there isn’t a cause that the taxpayers ought to should cowl the prices of Bianco’s inappropriate political transfer to achieve consideration for his candidacy.

    ..

To the editor: Bianco’s seizure of tons of of hundreds of particular election ballots has been dominated illegal by the California Supreme Courtroom. Bianco claims that he was performing inside the scope of his job with the seizure. The Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted 4 to 1 in opposition to funding Bianco’s authorized protection. Moreover, many of the Board of Supervisors didn’t consider Bianco was performing inside the scope of his job.

Bianco truly had damaged election regulation by seizing ballots, per the state Supreme Courtroom’s ruling. If anybody needs to be sued, it needs to be Bianco for breaking the regulation and the GOP-endorsed decide for permitting the unlawful seizure of the 650,000 particular ballots.
