To the editor: The final line of Nour Khalil AbuShammala’s article (“Out of food and under constant attack, we Gazans are dying every day,” April 29) haunts me. “How did you let this occur?” I don’t know.

I do know the way horrific the conflict is, the anger and ache of the households of the hostages taken by Hamas, together with the ache of these dwelling in terror in Gaza. I do know the worry of these within the U.S., particularly younger adults, to talk out towards the conflict.

I do know that regardless that I’m personally fortunate sufficient to be distanced from this horrific conflict, it’s past discouraging and miserable every day. Whether it is any comfort to AbuShammala, many haven’t forgotten about Gaza. We simply really feel powerless, hopeless and frightened.

    Marie Puterbaugh, Redondo Seashore

To the editor: The tragedy of Gaza lies earlier than the world. Innocents endure. However lacking from the opinion piece is the function of Hamas in perpetuating the tragedy for political functions.

Hamas leaders ought to go into exile. Rank and file Hamas members ought to lay down their arms. The worldwide group ought to assist the traumatized Palestinian folks and assist their rights to a homeland of their very own as a peaceable neighbor of Israel.
