To the editor: I admire visitor contributor Raul A. Reyes’ concern that Immigration and Customs Enforcement wants oversight (“Immigration enforcement needs oversight. ICE can’t just ban lawmakers,” Aug. 21) — however sadly, the Rubicon has been crossed and there’s no governmental curiosity in oversight. These in energy are solely desirous about instilling terror and cementing their management. Democrats want to realize management of each homes so ICE in its present kind is disbanded and defunded.

Most Individuals usually are not afraid of immigrants who’re undocumented or overstayed their visas, however they’re afraid of ICE and take no consolation in how they’re conducting enterprise.

    ..

To the editor: I’ve nothing in opposition to deporting undocumented individuals who have been convicted of violent crimes (“Most California voters disapprove of Trump’s immigration enforcement policies, poll shows,” Aug. 24). Can somebody clarify to me why this authorities will not be going into all of the overcrowded prisons within the nation, discovering the undocumented and deporting them as an alternative of patrolling the streets?

And cease blaming former President Biden. Sure, I’m sorry he didn’t shut the border, however he was attempting to do it the precise approach, with laws to vary the complete immigration system. Sadly, he and people round him didn’t understand that Congress and our present president wouldn’t enable that to occur. However to separate up households and go after individuals who have been selecting our produce, constructing our homes, caring for our kids and the aged and mowing our lawns is simply so outrageous, merciless, undemocratic and un-American.
