Letters to the Editor: America owes much of its greatness to three presidents

To the editor: I don’t agree with the creator’s assertion that “America’s greatness has by no means rested on the brilliance of its politicians” (“What a 700-year-old Italian fresco can teach America today,” July 9). Three presidents come to thoughts.

George Washington established the custom of a two-term presidency when many individuals needed him to change into king of the brand new United States of America. Abraham Lincoln insisted that the nation keep as one united nation when the difficulty of slavery resulting in the Civil Battle virtually tore it aside. Franklin D. Roosevelt bought this nation via years of the Nice Melancholy and led a victory over fascism with our allies in World Battle II.

    If this isn’t political greatness, I don’t know what’s.
