To the editor: Councilmember Nithya Ramen was quoted within the final paragraph of this text saying, “Folks face extraordinary hire will increase 12 months after 12 months … driving folks out of town.” (“In historic vote, L.A. caps rent increases for rent-stabilized apartments at 4%,” Nov. 12).

Los Angeles has had hire management for greater than 40 years, which has prevented “extraordinary hire will increase” throughout a lot of town. The actual challenge is the demand for housing that’s being pushed by folks from different states coming into Los Angeles. That’s what’s forcing those that can’t afford it out.
