JERUSALEM: Israel’s navy stated on Monday (Mar 30) it had pulled a battalion out of the West Financial institution after a soldier assaulted a CNN photojournalist final week in a village within the occupied Palestinian territory.

A CNN staff was reporting on the aftermath of an assault by Israeli settlers and the institution of an unlawful outpost close to the Palestinian village of Tayasir on Thursday once they have been detained by Israeli troopers, the International Press Affiliation stated in a press release.

After the troopers pointed their weapons on the CNN crew, “an IDF soldier approached CNN’s photojournalist from behind, positioned him in a chokehold, slammed him to the bottom, and broken his digital camera”, stated the affiliation, which represents a whole bunch of journalists in Israel and the Palestinian territories.

CNN corroborated the small print in its personal report on the incident, figuring out the photojournalist as Frenchman Cyril Theophilos.

“This was not a misunderstanding … It was a violent assault on clearly recognized journalists and a direct assault on press freedom,” the FPA stated.
