    Iran is drawing up an inventory of circumstances for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, its prime safety official has mentioned.

    Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme Nationwide Safety Council, mentioned on Thursday that mediators had requested Tehran to set out its phrases, and that ending the regional battle was amongst them.

    His remarks got here as Qatar’s prime minister held talks in Tehran, the third mediating state to go to Iran in per week, following Pakistan and Oman delegations.

    Qatar’s International Ministry mentioned the 2 sides had mentioned a short lived hall by way of the strait and a joint challenge to clear mines from it.

    Trump says strait is ‘open’

    It was reopened briefly underneath a June Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), underneath which Iran was to clear mines and let ships move freed from cost for 60 days whereas Washington lifted the blockade and eased sanctions.

    Iran declared it shut once more after accusing the US of violating the MoU, with the US reimposing its blockade in retaliation. The settlement expired on August 17, although it was deserted by each side weeks earlier.

    Talking within the Oval Workplace on the identical day as Rezaei, US President Donald Trump declared the waterway “open”, saying that US forces had already cleared it of mines and that hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil had been leaving the strait every day.

    Trump told Al Jazeera on Wednesday that he was in no rush to renew negotiations. “I’ve no time schedule, none. I’m not in a rush,” he mentioned.

    A supply in his administration instructed Al Jazeera that the blockade would stay in place and that no talks with Iran had been scheduled.
