    ICE officer ‘relieved of current duties’ after violent confrontation caught on camera

    An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent seen on video pushing a girl at a federal courthouse in New York Metropolis on Thursday has been relieved of his present duties because the Division of Homeland Safety investigates the incident, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin instructed ABC Information.

    Within the video reviewed by ABC Information, a girl could be heard pleading with the agent as her husband is being detained, saying “you do not care about something.” The agent could be heard repeatedly saying “Adios” earlier than all of the sudden shoving the lady up towards a wall and inflicting them to fall to the bottom. The agent can then be seen standing over her as her crying kids encompass the lady.

    “The officer’s conduct on this video is unacceptable and beneath the women and men of ICE. Our ICE legislation enforcement are held to the very best skilled requirements and this officer is being relieved of present duties as we conduct a full investigation,” McLaughlin stated.

    NYC Comptroller Brad Lander who was on the federal constructing Thursday however didn’t personally witness the incident posted on X, saying the lady’s husband had been detained by ICE brokers simply moments earlier than she was pushed to the bottom.

    “Seconds earlier, her husband had been kidnapped by masked ICE brokers who didn’t determine themselves, didn’t current a warrant, didn’t give any lawful grounds for his detention,” Lander posted.

    Lander says the lady was taken to the hospital after the incident.

    Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., said on social media the lady and her two younger kids “fled to my workplace for security” after the incident and referred to as on DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to take disciplinary motion.

    “Monica and her 2 younger kids fled to my workplace for security after she was assaulted by this @ICEgov agent in an egregious act of extreme drive. That is unacceptable conduct from this ICE agent. @Sec_Noem should take applicable disciplinary motion and implement measures to forestall this from taking place once more,” he posted.

    A spokesperson for NYC Mayor Eric Adams stated on Friday, “Like so many, we now have seen the upsetting photos of a federal agent showing to shove a girl — whose husband had simply been detained by ICE — to the bottom, and we’re happy to listen to this incident is being investigated.
