To the editor: I’m retired legislation enforcement, having served for almost 33 years.

The Buena Park Police Division initiated a pursuit within the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 22 (“Southbound I-5 reopens near Camp Pendleton after car chase ends in police shooting,” Nov. 22). The pursuit ended within the neighborhood of the southbound Interstate 5 in Oceanside, when the suspect ran from his car. He was later apprehended and jailed. Apparently there was an officer-involved taking pictures, however no officers have been injured and there have been no visitors collisions. In any case, the southbound I-5 was fully shut down for no less than six hours, making a monumental visitors jam.

My query is that this: How can legislation enforcement justify inflicting such hardship on the motoring public with the intention to conduct such a painstakingly gradual investigation? I perceive eager to be thorough, however that’s past the pale.
