    Four arrested in connection with M&S and Co-op cyber attacks

    4 individuals have been arrested by police investigating the cyber-attacks which have induced havoc at M&S and the Co-op.

    The Nationwide Crime Company (NCA) says a 20-year-old lady was arrested in Staffordshire, and three males – aged between 17 and 19 – had been detained in London and the West Midlands.

    They had been apprehended on suspicion of Pc Misuse Act offences, blackmail, cash laundering and taking part within the actions of an organised crime group.

    All 4 had been arrested at their houses within the early hours of Thursday. Digital gadgets had been additionally seized by the police.

    One of many suspects – a 19-year-old man – is from Latvia, the remaining are from the UK.

    Paul Foster, head of the NCA’s Nationwide Cyber Crime Unit, stated the arrests had been a “vital step” in its investigation.

    Shortly after Co-op introduced it had been attacked, luxurious retailer Harrods stated it too had been focused and had been compelled to disconnect IT techniques from the web to maintain the criminals out.

    The 4 individuals arrested are a 17-year-old British male from the West Midlands, a 19-year-old British man from London, a 19-year-old Latvian male from the West Midlands and a 20-year-old British lady from Staffordshire.

    The NCA stated its operation was supported by officers from the West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit and the East Midlands Particular Operations Unit.
