LOS ANGELES: Two firefighters battling a wildfire in the USA have been arrested by border patrol brokers, immigration officers mentioned on Thursday (Aug 28), as President Donald Trump’s migration crackdown gathers tempo.

Brokers lined the 44 folks up and ordered them to provide identification, firefighters informed the Seattle Instances, with crew members informed they weren’t allowed to movie the encounter.

“You risked your life out right here to avoid wasting the neighborhood,” one firefighter, who was not named, informed the paper. “That is how they deal with us.”

US Customs and Border Safety (CBP) mentioned Border Patrol officers have been there on the request of rangers who wished to confirm that the names offered on contractor rosters have been correct.

“A number of discrepancies have been recognized, and two people have been discovered to be current in the USA illegally, one with a earlier order of elimination,” a CBP assertion mentioned Thursday.

These two folks have been arrested and detained, the CBP mentioned, whereas the remaining 42 have been faraway from federal lands in what the company characterised as a “contract termination and enforcement” following a felony investigation.

The operation “didn’t intrude with firefighting operations or the response to any lively fires within the space, nor did it pose any hazard to the encircling neighborhood”.
