To the editor: The perfect factor that the state’s voters and then-Gov. Jerry Brown did in 1976 for California’s current and future generations was to create and empower the California Coastal Fee. We gave it the authority to guard our valuable, lovely shoreline from these people and companies who would hurt it for their very own acquire or who want to block public entry to our seashores, which all of us have a proper to get pleasure from. (“Top Trump aide says conditions on federal aid to L.A. will target California Coastal Commission,” Feb. 21)

In 2016, columnist Steve Lopez wrote a vivid and compelling series of articles as he traveled the size of our complete magnificent coast. He needed to see for himself and report back to us readers about what a marvel it’s now and may stay.

No authorities interference at any degree is warranted to mess with the perfect safety we have now of what makes California nice once more, and once more, and once more.

To the editor: This might be humorous if it weren’t so predictably self-centered. Withholding federal catastrophe reduction for L.A. hearth harm until the California Coastal Fee is defunded can solely be the prelude to a number of Trump oceanside accommodations.

Having twice lived on the seaside in Malibu, I do know what a ache and an unreasonable task-master the fee might be. However within the alternative between Trump and the deep blue sea, I select the California Coastal Fee.
