The operator of a ship that capsized in New York Harbor, leaving a mom and her child daughter lifeless, is going through federal fees of negligence as a ship captain leading to dying and misconduct as a ship captain leading to dying, ABC New York station WABC reported.
Manuel Hernandez, 46, was taken into federal custody on Monday, in line with a U.S. official. He appeared in court docket Monday afternoon and is ready to be launched on $50,000 bail, WABC reported.
Hernandez was initially arrested on state fees — 13 counts of reckless endangerment — in line with the New York Police Division.

On Saturday night time, the boat overturned near the Statue of Liberty, sending all 14 on board into the water, the Coast Guard stated.
The NYPD recognized the 2 individuals killed as 27-year-old Sara Sanchez and 5-month-old Antonella Garcia of Queens, New York. Sources instructed ABC Information the victims had been mom and daughter.

The 12 survivors had been rescued with minor accidents, the Coast Guard stated.
Sanchez leaves behind her husband, who was on the boat and survived, and their 6-year-old son, who was not on the boat, WABC reported.
Investigators are wanting into whether or not the boat was an unlawful constitution operation, the Coast Guard stated.
