    HAVANA: Cuban authorities started to free prisoners on Friday (Apr 3) after saying it will pardon 2,010 inmates, the second launch in lower than a month because it faces heightened US strain.

    Greater than 20 inmates got here out of La Lima penitentiary in east Havana, holding their launch papers, crying and hugging kinfolk who had been ready for all of them morning, AFP journalists mentioned.

    “Thanks for this chance that they gave us,” mentioned Albis Gainza, 46, who had served half of a six-year sentence for theft.

    The Cuban authorities introduced late Thursday that it will pardon 2,010 prisoners as a “humanitarian and sovereign gesture” to mark Holy Week.
