    China announces ‘countermeasures’ after US trade sanctions

    BEIJING: China introduced restrictions on drone exports to america and blacklisted six corporations on Wednesday (Aug 5) in response to commerce sanctions imposed by Washington over forced labour and nationwide safety issues.

    The transfer comes days after the US imposed fresh tariffs on China and 59 different international locations, including to a collection of latest commerce measures.

    The US actions “significantly hurt China’s legit rights and pursuits”, a commerce ministry spokesperson stated in a press release.

    “China can solely take crucial countermeasures in response, together with strengthening export controls on drones, and their key parts and expertise to the US.”

    Beijing’s measures additionally embody suspending manufacturing facility follow-up inspections by Chinese language certification our bodies, blacklisting US compliance testing corporations, and launching nationwide safety investigations into imports of workplace printers and copiers, in accordance with the ministry.

    It additionally imposed sanctions on six US companies, together with biotech firm Utilized DNA Sciences and geoscience analysis agency Stratum Reservoir, barring organisations and people inside China from “partaking in related transactions, cooperation, or different actions with them”.

    The six entities “have assisted and supported unlawful US sanctions associated to Xinjiang; the character of their actions is egregious”, the commerce ministry stated.
