FAR-RIGHT POLITICIANS CALL FOR REMAINING MIGRANTS TO BE EXPELLED
Over the weekend, far-right, anti-immigrant Spanish politicians and well-known right-wing influencers descended on the town, sparking counterprotests that included members of the Spanish metropolis’s giant Muslim inhabitants, lots of whom are of Moroccan descent.
Alvise Pérez, a far-right Spanish politician and member of the European Parliament, referred to as on Saturday night for migrants to be expelled as he confronted an offended crowd of rival protesters. Pérez ultimately needed to shelter in a bar as residents banged on the home windows, till police escorted him away.
Among the many counterprotesters on Saturday was 20-year-old Ceuta resident and pupil Noor Ahmed. She denounced the protest and presence of figures like Pérez in her metropolis as opportunistic.
“They only need to make the most of the humanitarian disaster Ceuta is at present experiencing,” Ahmed stated.
Santiago Abascal, the chief of the far-right Vox social gathering, visited Ceuta on Sunday, slamming the Spanish authorities for the surge in migrant arrivals, which he referred to as “an invasion.”
“The frontiers of Ceuta and Melilla are the partitions of our dwelling and homeland, and they aren’t being protected by a corrupt and traitorous authorities,” he stated.
